HISTORY ABOUT AFC WIMBLEDON:

As most of you probably know by now, AFC Wimbledon was formed back in 2002 after the old Wimbledon FC relocated 75 miles up north to Milton Keynes. That then started up a new club in AFC Wimbledon. Since then, the club has had back to back promotions, and promotion back to the Football League happened when AFC Wimbledon beat Luton Town on Penalties at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium when Danny Kedwell (Love the man) scored the winning penalty to send the Dons back in the Football League. Since then, the Dons celebrated promotion to League One after beating Plymouth Argyle at Wembley 2-0 after Lyle Taylor and Bayo Akinfenwa (Again love Bayo) to send Wimbledon into League One and another promotion. 14 years it's taken AFC Wimbledon into League One, such a wonderful story and long may it continue for AFC Wimbledon. Since then, the club have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sell their current ground Kingsmeadow for £2m and another stop closer to returning to the Borough of Merton, near their previous ground, Plough Lane.

THE WHOLE AFC WIMBLEDON/MK DONS SAGA:

My opinion on the whole saga of this, I'm sure a lot of people will agree with me anyway (without sounding big headed) is it's horrible to see what happened, but what's happened has happened. If anyone could change things now, they would. If I could change things and put MK Dons in the Combined Counties League then I would, but what's done is done, never nice to see MK Dons in the Football League but unfortunately that's how life goes on. I'll never see MK Dons as a proper football club, never have done and never will. Apart from the football ground in Milton Keynes, I couldn't name 1 good thing about them. But I'm not going to sit here and drivel on, I've got a huge soft spot for AFC anyway, nice to see them doing well especially seeing ex Gills players doing well for them, aka Barry Fuller, Bayo Akinfenwa etc. It'll be good to see Wimbledon return home in the Borough of Merton, hopefully rather sooner than later. What a story for AFC Wimbledon and long may it continue!

LATEST VISIT TO KINGSMEADOW, OCTOBER 2016:

AFC Wimbledon 2-0 Gillingham
Saturday 1st October 2016
League One

My latest visit to the Kingsmeadow was back in the beginning of October, another short journey to Kingston Upon Thames. Again I'm not a massive fan of the ground itself but in a way I was looking forward to a re-visit, only realised it was actually my 4th visit and not my 3rd due to going there years ago to watch Wimbledon vs Aldershot. So anyway, my 4th visit was another train ride, although I had been by train before, I double checked on Google Maps to see if it was the way I thought it was etc. Anyway, Wimbledon away came and I left home about half 9 as I wanted to pop into the bookies early and put some bets on as I had been working all week so hadn't had a chance to put any on. So anyway, I got the 10.11 train which got me into Strood by 11. Met up with Dave, got our train tickets and left half an hour later. Got into St Pancras by 12 and grabbed a Maccy D's, and then got onto the tube to Vauxhall and then another train out to Norbiton which is around a 15 min walk to the ground. After taking some pictures (and my programme falling out of my pocket and landing into a huge puddle haha) I got into the ground by 2. Huge respect to the club itself but not so much respect to the ground, such a tight little small ground which you can barely watch much of the game unless the ball is played towards the right hand side of the away end but to be honest, it wasn't too much to watch anyway. It was a dire game with 2 very poor teams and it was another typical Gillingham away performance. A 2-0 defeat which probably was deserved, but Wimbledon weren't much better themselves. Another game which saw injuries, and our player Rory Donnelly put his middle finger up at the Wimbledon fans which saw the referee give him a straight red card. Not really too much to say about the game really, was another good day, just 90 minutes of football ruined it a bit. Anyway afterwards, I got back into Strood by 7 with no problems on the trains which was a bit of luck.
